Why is the US justice system so messed up?
rdc30 asked:
Murderers and rapists live more comfortably than most Americans and almost certainly better than they did before they went to jail. They get 3 nice hearty meals a day. Entertainment like TV, movies, video games, and family visits. Outdoor and indoor exercise, sports, equipment, and gyms. They sit around all day in nice temperatured controlled rooms, getting their meals cooked, cloths washed and get paid if they have to work.
I’m sorry, but I thought prison was suppose to be REAL PUNISHMENT so that they don’t commit anymore crimes. Most people who leave jail get sent right back in a year, because jail is better than their own home.

Simple because of Power.
Just watch an episode of Law and Order.
That is not an accurate depiction of the prisons I have seen. I encourage you to try living in one of those cells for a week before you talk about how cushy the lifestyle is.
It needs to be that way. otherwise it would be a constant riot in prisons and jail, not to mention how much more that people would fight and kill in order to not be put in jail.

those things are only to keep the inmates busy and mellow–verses hostile and pissed off with nothing better to do than plot on officers and ways to break out.
Well, here is one of the “hearty meals” - - - you want to eat it?
During my 43 year career I visited a lot of prisons. Never found one as comfortable as you describe. All prisons are overcrowded. The pay they get for working is well below minimum wage and often subject to being withheld to pay fines and restitution. Television is limited and edited for content, so are the games. much of the exercise equipment is worn, overused, and sometimes even controlled by some prison gang.
And then, of course, there is your room mate - - Bubba the axe murderer who thinks you have a cute butt.
