Can I still help out the indoor/outdoor track team?

I am a sophmore in high school and I want to help with track. since I want to be part of a sport but can’t take part phsically in any (long story) I was wandering if the indoor/outdoor track teams would have something I could do like equipment help, timing, etc, or if I am just out of luck.

    Track teams are always short of help…especially at meets. Volunteer to be a timer…you can help set up hurdles…keep track of jumps at the long and triple jumps, shot put, pole vault, etc.

    Ask the coach and explain your situation. I’m sure he would be glad to have help.

    Oh of course they would have something for you to do. The whole sport of track is so complex that they would need you somewhere. You could time and get splits for distance and relay runners. You could carry equipment like hurdles and blocks to the best of your ability.

    But I really appreciate that you want to be apart of track regardless of physical shortcomings. That is a mark of true strength. There are not a lot of students in high school that would want to help out with a track team.
