What are safe bug repellents for toddlers?

Michelle H asked:

I have a 15 month old daughter. We live in the South, and our family loves outdoor activities and sporting events. My daughter and I both have very sensitive skin, so I want to find something effective, but that also will not irritate her skin.

We use the Avon Skin So Soft stuff for our 2 year old. We live in KS, and it works great for ballgames & other outdoor things.

California Baby makes some natural bug repellents- the best is the one with the sunscreen built right in.

Firstly, a good idea would be to get a bug screen cover that slips over your daughter’s stroller. That will do the best job at keeping bugs off her.

After that, use any product that is labeled for babies, since they are formulated for sensitive skin. You can use it for yourself as well. I like California Baby’s SPF 30+ sunscreen citronella bug blend that has natural ingredients. You also knock out needing to rub two different products on your daughter. (Link for this product is below.)

    Enjoy the warm weather!

The best thing are those little clip on devices that make a noise that repel mosquitoes. They are perfectly safe.

    Otherwise cedar oil may work.
