What do you get for a v-day birtday in a new relationship?
soccernut asked:
I would like some ideas for a V-Day/B-Day gift for a guy I just started dating very recently. He is into sports and outdoor stuff but all the traditional junk seems corny when you are over 30/40. I have never celebrated this holiday and I think I should do something since it is his birthday.

If you are 30-40ish I would think it would be nicer to do something rather than give something. If he is into sports or outdoor stuff, get tickets to some game, or make plans to do something outdoorsy that he might like. Since it is February (it’s freezing cold where I live, I don’t know about you) take him rock-climbing on an indoor wall. Not only would it be something he would enjoy, but it would give you guys something you did “together” and there would be no extra romantic pressure that is sometimes weird in the beginning of a new relationship. Good Luck!
I’m in a very similar situation.
Since it’s new, he hasn’t seen me in anything too risque. He has no idea that’s about to change.
Best part is that I was careful to choose something that suits the way he touches me. I’m thinking about celebrating early.
How much to spend is the hardest part. ‘Too much’ could feel like pressure to him, or that it’s getting too serious too fast. Of course, you do have the advantage of a double gift. Maybe tickets to something he’ll enjoy?
I asked my guy whether he wanted dinner out, my treat, where we have to behave, or dinner in, where we don’t. He’s deciding.
Whatever you do, enjoy it. That’s the best gift you can give any man.
Its supposed to be corny and cute….thats the point. Its a chance to be silly and sentimental…lovenotes, stuffed animals, and candy never go out of style—people miss the point by spending too much and being too impersonal. The best valentine I ever got was one made out of cartoons from the newspaper my husband glued to a piece of paper and filled in the “quote balloons” himself. Everyone likes to be told they are specially or beary important…lol You could use the sports theme… but I would suggest you just go with two separate gifts…keep it simple. Maybe bake a heart shaped cake and buy a gift. Have fun
I like the idea of tickets to a game.
