My stepson is turning 15 soon, what should I get him for his birthday?
Mlle A asked:
He plays soccer and loves video games, and he has a girlfriend, he’s also into some kinds of rap music (like Eminem) and he likes outdoor sports. He already has a scooter, a bike, an iPod (the big one), Xbox 360 and plenty of games, and a working cell phone. Since he has already gotten all the cool stuff, what would be a good gift??? (Yes I know he’s probably already spoiled, but he has 2 sets of parents and too many grandparents to count, so not much I can do there.) Thanks for any advice!
To the person who asked why I knowingly let a 15 year old listen to eminem, I don’t believe that limiting what music he listens to fall into my purview of my role as “Stepmother.” Also, he listens to what he wants to, and he gets good grades and stays out of trouble, so maybe rather than taking away everything that kids like to keep them out of trouble, people should try actually PARENTING. Why would you answer this question with such a cliche’ opinion? It’s his birthday, not my judgment day.

have everyone pool there money to get him a car for when he gets his drivers license
Give him a $50.00 gift certificate to Walmart or his favorite store with a card.
Take him out to lunch/dinner and give him a card with a gift card from the mall. And buy him some good cake. Invite his girlfriend along.
give him a car for his birthday!
Being 15, he may not think this is the best gift he could receive right now, but I’d bet he’d look back on it and really appreciate it…give him a gift certificate to spend the day with you out and about…just the two of you. Maybe movie and lunch somewhere, shopping at the mall and eating junk food there, putt-putt golf and ice cream afterwards…just some ideas. Boys this age sometimes get so wrapped up in their lives that they forget they are special to us and we enjoy their company.
You could just fix his favorite meal and stay at home, playing his video games with him…threaten to ground him if he beats you!
Happy birthday to him!
make a themed gift basket (or bag)
inside have:
a cool keychain
drivers test booklet
and cash$$$ for him to put toward a car
and whatever else you can think of to go along with it
Omigosh, Meme’s advice is awesome!!!! Go with that idea!
Maybe you could even throw in the promise that he can use your car sometime! VERY NICE! I’m going to do that for my son this year. Thanks Meme!!!!!
Do something for him and his girlfriend. Treat them to an extravagant dinner for two. Show him that you apprpve of the way his life is proceeding.
Well i think you should get him a nintendo Wii or some money for video games or maybe even a psp ;]
Honestly, this may sound ridiculous, but as a fellow teenager, I would purchase a gift card for a book store, like Barnes and Noble or something like that. Video games ruin a child’s potential, there is also research that proves it is one of the leading causes of ADHD and obesity. Giving him a gift card would be great because he can choose a book that he would really want.
You can never go wrong with that, children do not need so many electronics, call me old fashioned, but a good book would be great.
Make him a box incluide the following:
A Driver’s test booklet
An Itunes Gift card ($25.00)
An open bank account for him to starts saving up to buy a car
Tickets to a basketball game to go with his girl
A Hollister Cologne
When my son turned 15, I got him two tickets to a concert he really wanted to go to and let him take a friend of his. I drove but didn’t go with him…. it was his first concert without parental annoyances.
I think the best thing about it was the fact that he had the excitement of the gift, the build of excitement as he waited for the concert and the day of the concert itself so it was a gift that hung around a long time.
My youngest son is 14 and can’t wait to turn 15 so he can go to a concert by himself so the gift must’ve been a good one.
Clothes!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
money or a giftcard. voilĂ .
give him a “get out of trouble free card” make one, and give it to him for his bday present. if he gets into trouble one day you will help him.
but only if its not anything big. or illegal.
the bigger question is you knowingly let a 15 year old listen to eminem???
